A big happy hello from our Driver Adrian!

Joe Bradshaw

Adrian is Devon Farm Kitchen’s new and fabulously friendly driver who goes the extra mile for his customers! He travels far and wide across South Devon sprinkling joy wherever he goes and delivering oh so sumptuous meals to all our lovely customers.

In this blog, Adrian explains what it’s like working as a driver for Devon Farm Kitchen.

“I’m over the moon to be working for Devon Farm Kitchen,” says Adrian. “I’m already getting to know lots of customers and I’m look forward to meeting many more!

“I've always enjoyed jobs which make a difference to people's lives. Providing a valuable service to those in need, especially in these times, is very rewarding. Knowing it is building a long term income for Rowcroft makes me want to ensure I do the best job I can for a brilliant cause.

“I start at around 8am, putting orders together and planning the route for the day. No two days are the same. We split the week into areas, covering Torbay on Mondays/Thursdays; Newton Abbot, Teignmouth, Dawlish and parts of South Dartmoor on Tuesdays/Fridays; and Dartmouth/Totnes on Wednesdays.

“Sometimes the tight country lanes are a challenge in my van, and they certainly test my driving skills! I love meeting all our customers and driving around the beautiful South Devon countryside. I'm getting to know some regular customers very well, and it's great to catch up every week! They all seem so impressed with the quality and freshness of the meals - which they describe as just like homecooked!

“Devon Farm Kitchen’s meals takes the pressure off people who are caring for their family, and it makes life easier for those who live alone. They are receiving something they can really enjoy: great quality, freshly cooked meals served on a ceramic plate and delivered to the door. Our meals aren’t mass produced or ridden with preservatives; nor are they presented in plastic compartments. And it’s great that our meals are made using the best local ingredients.

“For some of our customers, knowing they are supporting the hospice is crucial, as they've had family members who've benefitted from Rowcroft’s services.

“I’m amazed by the vast area that Rowcroft’s care teams cover in South Devon – from Dartmouth to Dawlish and up onto Dartmoor. It’s remarkable that Rowcroft – as a charity - cares for more than 2000 patients and their families each year! Rowcroft offers phenomenal services which really do support patients and families. And everyone I've met at the hospice has been so helpful - I can sense that they all enjoy the jobs they do. I think they are all superstars.”
